Lamine Yamal is expected to take over Lionel Messi’s No. 10 shirt at Barcelona after signing a new contract this summer.

The 17-year-old has shown strong performance this season, having won the Euros with Spain last year and helped Barcelona win the La Liga title. Reports say he will sign a long-term contract in July, around his 18th birthday, which will include a €1 billion release clause.

The No. 10 jersey, currently worn by Ansu Fati, will be given to Yamal. Fati’s future at Barcelona is unclear, and he will lose the jersey.

Yamal currently wears No. 19, the same number Messi had before switching to No. 10 in 2008.

Yamal made his Barcelona debut at 15, and since then has won La Liga twice and contributed 43 goals or assists in 54 games this season.
