De Jong’s injury marked the beginning of a challenging time, as he suffered two additional knocks to the same area. Despite the struggles, he chose to keep quiet until now.
In an exclusive interview with BarcaOne, De Jong finally addressed the rumors that have been circulating:
“I chose to stay silent throughout my recovery,” he shared. “It’s not true that the club told me I needed surgery and that I refused. In fact, both the club’s doctors and I agreed that surgery wasn’t the best option.”
Reflecting on his time off the field, De Jong expressed his frustration: “For someone who lives and breathes football, it has been extremely tough being out of action for such a long period.” 😔⚽
