K1 De Ultimate Faces Backlash for Refusing to Apologize Over Remarks About Muslim Clerics

King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal (commonly known as K1 De Ultimate), the renowned Fuji musician, has sparked a wave of controversy following comments he made about Muslim clerics and his refusal to apologize.

The incident occurred ahead of the 8-day Fidau prayer for K1’s late mother, where he was filmed having a conversation with an individual. During this exchange, K1 used the phrase ‘G’anu si’ to describe the clerics, which many interpreted as an insinuation that some clerics attend social events uninvited, primarily for financial gain.

In the video, K1 remarked, “Alfas will not go to my father’s house for the party, It’s my house they will ‘Ganu si’.”

Following the incident, respected cleric Sheikh Faruq Onikijipa addressed the issue during the Fidau prayer on January 24, urging K1 to apologize for the comment. However, K1 remained unapologetic, asserting that he had done nothing wrong. He explained, “To admit guilt means saying, ‘Okay, don’t be angry,’ but I’ve done nothing wrong. If you admit guilt, you’re saying the accusations are true, which they are not.”

K1’s stance has ignited mixed reactions within the Muslim community and beyond. Some have defended him, citing the behavior of certain clerics who they believe attend events uninvited with financial motives. Conversely, others have criticized K1, accusing him of disrespecting and belittling the status of Muslim clerics.

The controversy continues to fuel debates on social media, with opinions divided over the conduct of clerics and K1’s response to the situation.
