The Jigawa State Hisbah Board has reiterated that the importation, sale, and consumption of alcohol remain prohibited in the state. This statement was made by the Commandant of the board, Ibrahim Dahiru, in response to questions from the press on Thursday.
Dahiru emphasized that the state’s government is committed to reforming the Hisbah Board as part of efforts to reduce social vices and uphold moral standards.
As part of its continued enforcement of the ban, the Hisbah command seized 78 cartons of assorted alcoholic beverages in Kazaure Local Government Area. The alcohol was confiscated from three beer parlours during an early morning raid.
The operation, however, did not result in any arrests, as the suspected owners of the establishments reportedly fled before the Hisbah personnel arrived.
Dahiru affirmed that the board would continue its operations to ensure compliance with the alcohol ban and warned that violators would face legal action. The confiscated items will soon be taken to court for further proceedings.
