Nigerian actress and medical professional Jemimah Osunde has opened up about her three-year health battle following an incident of food contamination.
Taking to X, Jemimah shared her struggles with her gastrointestinal tract (GIT), revealing that she contracted Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) after consuming food provided on set during a shoot in Ibadan. The aftermath of this infection has led to severe complications, including GERD (Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease), which she has been battling ever since.
In her post, she expressed deep regret over accepting the job that exposed her to such conditions.
“I’ve never regretted anything the way I regret taking that job and going with them to Ibadan to shoot under their care,” she wrote. “Got H. pylori from set food, and the aftermath GERD has left me fighting for my life for the last 3 years.”
She also reflected on her ongoing struggles, stating: “My own stomach is my greatest op. Actually, my entire GIT. SMH. The past month has really been something. sigh.”
The actress’s post has sparked discussions about food safety on film sets and the need for better care and hygiene to protect cast and crew members. Fans and colleagues have sent messages of support, urging Jemimah to prioritize her health and take time to heal fully.
