Insecurity: Immigration Alerts on New Sect, ACHAD Life Mission International

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has issued an alert regarding the emergence of a new sect, ACHAD Life Mission International, which is reportedly neither linked to Islam nor Christianity but advocates for the restoration of African tradition.

In a circular dated January 14, 2025, signed by Dr. Adedotun Aridegbe, the Principal Staff Officer to the Comptroller General of Immigration, the NIS called on its directorates, zones, training institutions, commands, and border formations to remain vigilant about the sect’s activities.

According to intelligence gathered by the service, ACHAD Life Mission International has its headquarters in Kaduna, while its leader, identified as Mr. Yokana, resides in Jos, Plateau State. The group is suspected to be canvassing for members both within and beyond Nigeria and is allegedly involved in activities such as human trafficking and child separation.

The circular partially reads:
“Intelligence reports reveal the emergence of a new sect called ACHAD Life Mission International. The sect has its headquarters in Kaduna, and its leader, Mr. Yokana, resides in Jos, Plateau State. The group neither aligns with Islam nor Christianity but instead promotes the restoration of African traditions and support to humanity.

“Further intelligence suggests that the sect has been actively recruiting members and is possibly involved in human trafficking and child separation. You are therefore requested to remain vigilant, report any signs of the sect’s activities, and, where possible, arrest and provide updates accordingly.”

The NIS emphasized the importance of proactive measures to address this potential security threat, urging all personnel to be on high alert, particularly in border areas. This development comes amid heightened efforts by security agencies to curb insecurity across the country.
