Imo PDP Slams Governor Uzodinma for Inaction Amid Rising Killings and Attacks

Rising Attacks and Killings in Imo State

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Imo State strongly condemns the recent violent incidents, including the attack on the Isiala Mbano Local Government Area (LGA) headquarters. Unknown gunmen killed security guards during the assault. Additionally, the Obowo LGA Divisional Police Headquarters was set ablaze, and a policeman was murdered near NEPA junction in Umulogho community.

Condemnation from Imo PDP

Lancelot Obiaku, the PDP State Publicity Secretary, expressed the party’s outrage. “These ongoing attacks and the loss of innocent lives are senseless and unjustifiable. They have no place in our culture,” Obiaku said. He extended the party’s sympathies to the victims’ families and to Imo residents facing these tragic events.

Governor Uzodinma Accused of Inaction

Obiaku criticized the APC-led government, specifically Governor Hope Uzodinma, for not taking action to prevent the attacks. According to Obiaku, the governor’s lack of response has allowed violence to spread unchecked. “The administration’s inaction has turned Imo State into a theater of war and bloodshed,” he stated.

Lack of Preventive Measures

The PDP lamented the absence of any preventive measures to combat the frequent attacks. “There has been no effective strategy to stop these tragic events. It’s time the government took serious steps to protect lives and properties,” Obiaku urged.

Government’s Focus Elsewhere

While citizens face these challenges, the Uzodinma administration seems more concerned with secret primaries for local government elections. In a leaked video, Governor Uzodinma claimed to know everything happening in the LGAs, yet his government has done little to prevent the violence.

Call for Urgent Action

Obiaku concluded by calling on the government to prioritize the safety and well-being of Imo residents. “Lives are being lost, and the state is burning, yet the government remains indifferent,” he said.
