If successful in the 2024 election, Trump intends to implement widespread detention and removal measures for undocumented immigrants.

Former President Donald Trump is reportedly considering a significant expansion of his initial administration’s strict immigration policies should he secure a second term in the 2024 election, as per recent reports from The New York Times and CNN.

The proposed measures involve the implementation of extensive efforts to apprehend undocumented immigrants currently residing in the United States, with the intention of placing them in detention facilities while awaiting deportation.

As per the report, the proposals involve the construction of sizable camps to accommodate migrants awaiting deportation. Additionally, federal and local law enforcement would be enlisted to aid in the extensive apprehension of undocumented immigrants nationwide.

In the event that the US Congress declines to allocate funds for the operation, Trump is prepared to employ a strategy reminiscent of his first term, redirecting funds from the Pentagon to secure additional funding for a border wall.

At a recent rally in Florida, Trump pledged to initiate “the largest domestic deportation operation in American history,” expressing concerns about criminals entering through the US-Mexico border and cautioning against individuals with harmful intentions.

On November 11, Trump announced his intention to sign an executive order on the first day of a potential second term, redirecting funds away from shelter and transportation for undocumented immigrants. He proposed allocating a portion of the savings to provide “shelter and treatment for our own homeless veterans.”

During campaign events, Trump highlighted his travel ban on predominantly Muslim countries as a “strong” and “powerful” measure. In Florida, he committed to “terminate all work permits for illegal aliens” and urged Congress to pass a bill outlawing welfare payments to illegal migrants.

Trump also raised concerns about caravans from Mexico, pledging to prosecute groups and charities facilitating large-scale unlawful immigration. Stephen Miller, a former senior Trump administration official overseeing immigration policy, emphasized Trump’s determination in implementing a comprehensive migration crackdown.

The Biden campaign strongly criticized Trump’s plans, characterizing them as “the horrifying reality that awaits the American people” if Trump returns to the Oval Office. Ammar Moussa, a spokesman for the Biden-Harris 2024 campaign, labeled the policies as “extreme, racist, and cruel,” designed to instill fear and division in the nation.
