Isaac Aloma, popularly known as ZicSaloma, the creator of skits, revealed that he was formerly a lecturer at Kaduna Polytechnic but made the decision to leave and focus on skit production.
During a recent podcast interview with Iyabo Ojo, ZicSaloma highlighted that he commenced his master’s program while completing his youth service and has always been motivated to achieve success.
He recounted his journey, explaining that after his youth service, he secured a lecturing position at Kadpoly. The inception of his skit-making venture was described as “unplanned,” and he admitted to facing challenges for three years before gaining recognition.
ZicSaloma shared, “I started making skits unplanned. It wasn’t something I took seriously, but it was gaining traction. Initially, I posted my skits on Facebook, and my friends seemed to enjoy them. Their encouragement motivated me to continue. I persisted for about three years, and though my fan base wasn’t growing, those who liked it appreciated it.”
He continued, “It wasn’t until the lockdown period when I joined TikTok that my content began to gain organic popularity. At one point, I informed my boss that I was resigning from my lecturing job, and she questioned my decision, asking, ‘Are you sure you know what you’re doing?’ I’m done with lecturing. How much is the lecturer’s salary? [laughs]”
