“I hail from the Oyo Kingdom in Nigeria,” declares Stonebwoy, the Ghanaian singer.

Ghanaian musician Livingstone Etse Satekla, widely known as Stonebwoy, has disclosed his Nigerian ancestry. Hailing from the Ewe tribe in Ghana, Stonebwoy asserts that his forebears originated from the ancient Oyo Kingdom in Nigeria. In a recent conversation with the popular influencer Ola of Lagos, the dancehall artist went on to claim that the Ewe people were the original inhabitants of Ilesha in Osun State. Speaking in Pidgin, Stonebwoy expressed, “I also have Nigerian roots, no exaggeration. I belong to the Ewe tribe, originating from the Oyo Kingdom. My tribe migrated from Nigeria to Ghana, and we have ties to Ilesha. Big shout-out to my people in the southern part of Nigeria. When you trace Ewe, it leads straight to Yoruba.”
