“I appreciate your music, but my admiration for the sound doesn’t necessarily translate to a love for the lyrics,” says rapper CDQ to Odumodublvck.

Nigerian rapper CDQ has offered clarification on why he publicly criticized fellow artist Odumodublvck, despite having privately commended him. During an appearance on Cool FM Nigeria’s Big Friday Show with host Tacha, CDQ had expressed disapproval of Odumodublvck and Shallipopi’s “poor lyrics.”

In response, Odumodublvck shared a screenshot of his private conversation with CDQ on Instagram, revealing CDQ’s praise for his “sound.” CDQ’s direct message read, “Odumodublvck. Bad boy, I f*ck with ur sound my brother.” Odumodublvck, sharing the private message, captioned the post with surprise, “Ah egbon, no be so o!”

However, CDQ took to his Instagram story to explain that appreciating Odumodublvck’s “sound” doesn’t necessarily mean he endorses his lyrics. He wrote, “[I] Fck wit ur sound doesn’t mean [I] fck with ur lyrics bra. I was only trying to encourage so @odumodublvck no gas ursef up ou dey bring my dm com out to do news lol… everyone out here know say CDQ is dat guy dat don’t give a fck abt no fckin body be u or anything, I’m very expensive n I’ll say it as it is.”
