Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp expressed the joy of winger Luis Diaz upon learning that his father had been released from kidnappers on a Thursday. Klopp also emphasized the perfect timing of this release, just a few hours before Liverpool’s Europa League match in Toulouse.
Luis Manuel Diaz, the father of the Liverpool forward, had been abducted alongside his wife, Cilenis Marulanda, 12 days prior, although Diaz’s mother had been promptly freed.
Klopp shared his observations, saying, “It looks like Lucho (Luis Diaz) is really happy, (giving) thumbs up all the time. It looks very, very good. Timing-wise, it could not have been better. If it is now, then great.”
The Colombian Football Federation had previously expressed gratitude to the national government, military forces, national police, and all the institutions and officials involved in securing the release of Luis Diaz’s father.
