Bayern Munich’s forward, Harry Kane, netted his 23rd goal in the UEFA Champions League during Tuesday evening’s match, matching the impressive record set by Chelsea icon Frank Lampard in the competition.
Kane has been making a remarkable impact at Bayern Munich, and he played a leading role in their 3-1 victory over Galatasaray in the Champions League. The England captain was responsible for Bayern’s second goal in the game.
Kane’s teammates, Kingsley Coman and Jamal Musiala, also found the back of the net against the Turkish giants.
With this triumph, Bayern Munich asserted their dominance in Champions League Group A, surpassing Galatasaray, Manchester United, and Copenhagen.
On an individual level, Kane’s latest goal tied him with Lampard for Champions League goals, and he accomplished this feat in just 35 appearances in the competition. It’s worth noting that Lampard, over the course of his illustrious career, made a staggering 105 appearances in the tournament.
After the victory, Kane shared his thoughts with Prime Video, saying, “It’s a really important win. This is a really tough place to come to – a tough stadium with the fans pushing them on. It made things difficult for us, especially in the first half. Amazing, credit to the Galatasaray fans, and obviously our away fans as well. This is what football’s all about – performing in challenging atmospheres on big occasions. Thankfully, we were able to come through it today.”
