Haaland Leads Man City Comeback to Beat Chelsea 3-1

Erling Haaland was the star of the show as Manchester City fought back from a 1-0 deficit to beat Chelsea 3-1 on Saturday, moving into the Premier League top four at the expense of the Blues.

The match got off to a disastrous start for City and debutant Abdukodir Khusanov, as a poor header from the Uzbek allowed Noni Madueke to open the scoring for Chelsea. However, City responded well. Josko Gvardiol equalized before Haaland took control, using a brilliant combination of strength and skill to chip in a goal 22 minutes from time.

Haaland then turned provider, setting up Phil Foden to score and seal a vital win for the English champions, who have now won four of their last five league games after struggling earlier in the season. Chelsea, on the other hand, have won just once in their last seven league matches and have fallen to sixth place.

Despite Chelsea’s issues, goalkeeper Robert Sanchez was once again under scrutiny after his positioning allowed Haaland’s crucial goal. City’s victory keeps them in the race for next season’s Champions League qualification, with Pep Guardiola’s side now focused on securing a win against Club Brugge in the upcoming UEFA competition.

The game also marked a tough debut for Khusanov, who had a shaky start when his attempted header back to goal led directly to Chelsea’s opener. The 24-year-old’s struggles were evident as he was later replaced by John Stones at the beginning of the second half. On the flip side, new signing Omar Marmoush showed promise, although a potential equalizer was ruled offside.

Haaland’s 24th goal of the season helped City recover, with Gvardiol’s earlier equalizer and Foden’s late strike completing the comeback. City now have their sights set on securing a Champions League spot, but their next challenge is a crucial match against Club Brugge in the UEFA competition.
