Governor Sanwo-Olu to Commission Old Ojo Road and Three Others in Amuwo-Odofin

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, is set to inaugurate the newly reconstructed Old Ojo (Phase 1) Road in Oriade Local Council Development Area (LCDA) on Tuesday. This marks a significant milestone in the administration’s commitment to enhancing infrastructure within Lagos.

In addition to the Old Ojo Road, three other vital roads will also be formally commissioned: Irede Road, Navy Town Road, and Mumuni Adio (Buba Marwa) Road, all within the Amuwo-Odofin Local Government Area (LGA).

Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, highlighted that the formal commissioning underscores the governor’s dedication to the transportation pillar of the THEMES+ Agenda. The completion of these roads will significantly boost economic activities by improving connectivity, particularly linking key transportation systems, including the Lagos Blue Line Rail and the inland waterways.

The 10.1 km of newly reconstructed roads will provide vital access to commercial and residential areas while improving mobility across the region. Notably, Irede Road, a 2.20 km stretch off the Lagos-Badagry Expressway, leads to Irede Jetty, connecting the water transport system serving riverine communities such as Ibasa, Ibeshe, Ilashe, and Imoore in Amuwo-Odofin.

Mumuni Adio Road, which provides access to the major petroleum product depot in Ijegun Egba, and Navy Town Road, linking Ijegun Imoren Jetty and Navy Town, will also contribute to improved infrastructure in the region.

These road upgrades address long-standing infrastructure challenges, such as the dilapidated pavement and inadequate drainage of the original Old Ojo Road, ensuring a more efficient transportation network that aligns with the state’s broader vision for economic development.
