Globacom, Nigeria’s leading technology communications company, took center stage as the sponsor of the Nigerian-French Technology Roundtable held on Friday at the Mike Adenuga Centre in Lagos.
A statement released on Saturday revealed that the event, organized by the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy in collaboration with the French Embassy in Nigeria, focused on Nigeria’s participation at the upcoming VivaTech Conference 2025 in Paris. The discussions centered on leveraging strategic partnerships to foster innovation within the country’s rapidly growing tech ecosystem.
The roundtable served as a platform for exploring ways Nigeria could thrive by forming partnerships with international collaborators, particularly with France, a nation known for its technological leadership. The discussions also aimed to elevate Nigeria’s tech startups globally, with the VivaTech platform offering opportunities for startups to showcase their innovations and attract venture capital.
In his speech at the event, the Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, Bosun Tijani, emphasized the strategic importance of Nigeria’s participation in VivaTech. He stated, “Platforms like VivaTech provide an unparalleled opportunity to showcase Nigeria’s innovation and position our tech startups as global leaders.”
Tijani also underscored the significance of the Nigeria-France partnership, saying, “This collaboration will help build a more robust and inclusive digital economy.”
Laurent Favier, Consul General of France in Nigeria, praised the progress of Nigerian technology startups, noting their success in securing global funding. “This partnership aims to further elevate Nigeria’s international presence and create deeper collaboration with France’s innovation ecosystem,” Favier added.
As a key sponsor, Globacom reaffirmed its commitment to Nigeria’s digital economy, emphasizing its role in empowering local innovators. The statement highlighted the dedication of Globacom’s Executive Vice Chairman, Bella Disu, who has long championed the company’s vision of creating platforms and infrastructure that support tech startups, facilitate innovation, and attract global investments.
