In the midst of the subsiding political tensions in the oil-rich Rivers State, Governor Simi Fubara has granted approval for the distribution of a Christmas bonus of N100,000 to civil servants on the government payroll.
The announcement was made by Warisenibo Johnson, the Commissioner of Information and Communications, in a statement released on Tuesday. Johnson conveyed that the governor officially sanctioned the bonus payment on Tuesday, aiming to provide government employees with a joyous Yuletide celebration this year.
This decision follows closely on the heels of a conflict resolution brokered by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who facilitated an eight-point agreement to resolve the impasse between Governor Fubara and the current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
In response to the resolution of the crisis, Governor Fubara expressed his commitment to achieving peace, stating that no sacrifice is too great to ensure the prevalence of tranquility. “There is no price that will be too big to pay to ensure peace prevails,” he affirmed.
