Victor Tulutu Briggs Foundation Awards Scholarships to 50 Students

Dr. Victor Briggs, President of the Victor Tulutu Briggs Foundation, announced the award of scholarships to 50 undergraduate and postgraduate students. The announcement was made at the foundation’s maiden youth political participation and governance training program held in partnership with the University of Port Harcourt.

The event was attended by the university’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Owunari Abraham George Will, Prof. Fidelis Allen, security officials, and academic members. Fifty participants from all 23 local government areas of the state, including non-indigenes, participated in the youth event.

Speakers at the event emphasized the program’s aim to reduce youth involvement in violence, particularly within the political sphere. The vice-chancellor expressed satisfaction with the partnership and commended Dr. Briggs for his generosity.

In their remarks, the participants pledged to avoid being used as tools for political violence.
