ABUJA – The Atiku Media Team has called on President Bola Tinubu and his team to cease their fruitless endeavors and preserve Nigeria’s reputation by addressing the controversies surrounding his life.
This challenge was presented during a press briefing in Abuja yesterday by the Media Adviser to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Mazi Paul Ibe, accompanied by two colleagues. Ibe pointed out that President Tinubu’s team seemed overly focused on a minor alleged discrepancy in the day and date of an affidavit filed by Atiku to officially change his name over five decades ago.
Ibe remarked, “Since the revelation of documents from Chicago State University, which exposed a string of certificate forgeries and impersonation by President Bola A. Tinubu, many of his media aides have attempted to create an alternate narrative about the public life of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.”
“It became evident from the outset that they were grasping at straws in their quest, randomly scrutinizing Atiku Abubakar’s public profile until they found a point they could seize upon.”
“They eventually latched onto the fact that Atiku Abubakar’s affidavit, filed on August 18, 1973, expressing his desire to be known as Atiku Abubakar, was signed on a Saturday. This discovery fueled the frenzy among APC supporters, ignoring other significant issues such as Bola A. Tinubu’s use of a female name and the submission of a forged certificate to the Independent National Electoral Commission.”
Ibe went on to explain that Atiku Abubakar’s affidavit was not the only one signed on a Saturday in 1973, revealing that the registry of the Lagos State high courts contained similar documents.
He emphasized the importance of transparency and moral rectitude for a president, asserting that Nigeria’s values do not condone forgery and impersonation. Ibe concluded by calling on President Bola A. Tinubu to follow Atiku Abubakar’s example in addressing any doubts about his past.
PDP Remains Hopeful of Success at Supreme Court
In a separate development, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) expressed its optimism that its challenge to the Presidential Election Petition Court’s ruling, which upheld President Bola Tinubu’s election victory, will prevail at the Supreme Court.
Debo Ologunagba, the National Publicity Secretary of the party, issued a statement in Abuja, explaining that the party’s confidence was based on constitutional provisions and relevant sections of the Electoral Act.
Ologunagba stated, “As the Supreme Court begins hearings on the February 25, 2023 Presidential Election Appeal, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, is confident that, guided by the law and the evidence presented, the Apex Court will deliver justice in the matter.”
He went on to emphasize the importance of upholding the law and the Constitution in resolving the issues related to the 2023 Presidential election, emphasizing the Judiciary’s role as the last hope of the common man. The PDP expressed optimism that the Supreme Court would deliver substantial justice in the appeal.
