NCAA Orders Air Peace to Refund Passenger or Face Sanctions
The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has issued a stern warning to Air Peace, demanding immediate reimbursement of a passenger whose flight was canceled in October 2024. The passenger, Falayi Temitope, took to social media to express frustration over the airline’s failure to refund him despite multiple requests.
According to the NCAA’s regulations, airlines are obligated to refund passengers within specific timeframes:
- Cash purchases: Immediate refund in cash.
- Electronic transfers, mobile apps, internet banking: Refund within 14 days.
The aviation authority emphasized that it would not tolerate non-compliance and warned of potential sanctions for airlines that fail to adhere to these regulations.
The NCAA’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Michael Achimugu, stated that the agency is committed to protecting the rights of passengers and ensuring that airlines provide quality service. He also hinted at potential revisions to the regulations to further shorten refund processing times.
