FG seeks partnership with Oyo to improve power supply

The Federal Government has urged collaboration with the Oyo State Government to enhance electricity supply within the state. Minister of Power, Bayo Adelabu, made this appeal during a courtesy visit to Governor Seyi Makinde in Ibadan.

Accompanied by key figures from the ministry, Adelabu stated that his visit aimed to foster a working relationship with Oyo State and explore potential areas for partnership. Emphasizing that ensuring a stable, reliable, and functional power supply is a governmental prerogative, he highlighted that operators serve as facilitators on behalf of the government.

The minister stressed the importance of cooperation between governments at all levels to enhance electricity supply for the public. He noted that state governments play a crucial role in aspects such as distribution, rural electrification, metering improvement, and safeguarding distribution infrastructure against theft and vandalism.

Adelabu expressed the ministry’s commitment to collaborating with the Oyo State Government, particularly with entities like the Ministry of Energy, Electricity Board, and Rural Electrification Board, to collectively address and improve the electricity challenges facing the state.
