The Federal Government has announced Tuesday, October 1 as a public holiday in celebration of the country’s 64th Independence Anniversary.
In a statement released on Saturday, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, revealed that the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made the declaration on behalf of the Federal Government. The minister extended his congratulations to Nigerians both at home and abroad on this occasion. He also commended the perseverance and dedication of the Nigerian people, assuring them that their efforts will not go unrecognized.
“The minister, reflecting on the theme of this year’s Anniversary, emphasized the importance of honoring the contributions of our past heroes and drawing inspiration for the challenges ahead. He noted that the Nigeria we aspire to can only be achieved through unity.
As part of his message, Dr. Tunji-Ojo wished all Nigerians a joyous Independence Day celebration and urged them to remain committed to nation-building,” the statement concluded.
