The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has designated Michael O. Chinda, an Ikwere native, to serve as the Senior Special Assistant responsible for Land, Urban, and Regional Planning.
Chinda, a scholar with a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Port Harcourt, completed his undergraduate education at the Rivers State University of Science and Technology in 1987.
Before this appointment, Chinda was recognized as a Fellow of the Nigeria Institute of Estate Surveyors and Valuers. He previously held the role of Senior Lands Officer at the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing, where he diligently served from 1989 to 2004.
Chinda’s public service record also includes being the Secretary of the Obio Akpor Local Government Council, where he played an active role from 2008 to 2010. Furthermore, he served as a dedicated member of the Rivers State House of Assembly from 2011 to 2023.
A statement issued by the FCT Director of Press, Anthony Ogunleye, emphasized the fundamental importance of land and urban planning in the growth and development of any city. With Chinda’s extensive experience and academic background, he is exceptionally well-prepared to tackle the intricacies and obstacles inherent in these critical domains.
