Cesc Fabregas, now head coach at Como, has revealed that Pep Guardiola had the greatest influence on his playing career, snubbing legendary managers Arsène Wenger and José Mourinho. 🏟️
Speaking to ESPN, the former Barcelona and Chelsea star admitted that while he learned patience from Wenger and bravery from Mourinho, Guardiola’s tactical acumen stood out the most during his time at Barcelona in the 2011/2012 season.
Fabregas said:
“Tactically, Pep is the one that I learned the most from. He always studied the opponent and gave us solutions. This is something I try to bring to the table for my players – to help them identify what’s happening on the pitch. Pep helped me a lot in this regard.”
⚽ Fabregas, 37, previously spent eight seasons under Arsène Wenger at Arsenal and later won his first Premier League title under José Mourinho at Chelsea during the 2014-2015 season. However, Guardiola’s analytical approach left the most lasting impression on his understanding of the game.
As a manager now, Fabregas aims to instill the same tactical insights he gained from Guardiola in his current squad at Como. 🌍
