Thomas Tuchel Emerges as Frontrunner for England Manager Role
The Football Association (FA) has intensified its search for a successor to Gareth Southgate, with former Chelsea and Bayern Munich manager Thomas Tuchel emerging as the leading candidate.
According to Sky Sports News, the FA is in discussions with Tuchel’s representatives to discuss his potential appointment as the new England manager. The German coach has been out of work since leaving Bayern Munich in May.
While the FA initially explored the possibility of appointing Pep Guardiola, the Manchester City manager is no longer considered a viable candidate. Instead, Tuchel has gained significant momentum in recent weeks.
The FA’s technical director, John McDermott, is reportedly seeking a coach with a proven track record of success, which aligns with Tuchel’s impressive resume. Tuchel has won league titles with both Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich, and has also secured the Champions League, Super Cup, and Club World Cup titles with Chelsea.
Should Tuchel be appointed, he would become only the third non-English manager of the England men’s team, following Sven-Goran Eriksson and Fabio Capello.
