Former Chelsea star Joe Cole has praised Liverpool’s young talents, Harvey Elliott and Curtis Jones, asserting that they have significantly elevated their performance following the Reds’ impressive 4-0 victory over LASK in the Europa League on Thursday.
Cole highlighted the duo’s improvement, attributing it to the departure of key players, including Fabinho, Jordan Henderson, and James Milner, during the summer transfer window. He emphasized that Elliott and Jones are now exerting a considerable influence within the Liverpool team.
Speaking on TNT Sports, Cole remarked, “What Jurgen Klopp seems to do is buy players when they are on the way up. He’s not looking at players who are ready and you know what they are going to give.” He praised Klopp’s strategy of acquiring players with the right attitude and cited examples like Darwin Nunez.
While acknowledging Mohamed Salah as the team’s main figure, Cole highlighted the collective hard work of the entire team. He specifically pointed out the progress of Elliott and Jones, emphasizing that their influence might not be as apparent to external observers but is acknowledged by those closely involved with the team.
