Manchester United’s manager, Erik ten Hag, has issued a stern warning to his players, emphasizing the necessity to be prepared to “suffer” and make sacrifices in the face of a hectic fixture schedule. Dismissing speculations that their injury crisis is linked to his training methods, Ten Hag addressed the challenges they are currently facing.
The injury list has grown with Mason Mount ruled out due to a calf injury sustained in training, joining the sidelined players Casemiro, Lisandro Martinez, Christian Eriksen, Tyrell Malacia, and Jonny Evans. Although Luke Shaw is set to return after a three-month absence for the Everton match, uncertainties loom over the availability of Rasmus Hojlund, Andre Onana, and Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
Reflecting on the physical demands of the Premier League, Ten Hag commented, “In the first 12 Premier League games, the physical standards have been even higher compared to last year. You have choices to make. Either you match it through training and preparation – or you drop off. That is a decision that every club, every team, and every individual has to make. You have to do it smart. Every team understands that you have to endure and make sacrifices,” stressed Ten Hag.
