EPL: He was lost, nuisance for his team – Redknapp blames Arsenal star after latest defeat

Former Tottenham Hotspur star, Jamie Redknapp has blamed Takehiro Tomiyasu for his display during Arsenal’s Premier League 2-1 defeat to Fulham.

Redknapp said Tomiyasu, who came on at half-time for Jakub Kiwior, ‘looked lost’ and was a ‘nuisance’ for Arsenal during the encounter at Craven Cottage on New Year’s Eve.

Recall that Bukayo Saka gave the Gunners an early lead, but Fulham fought back, thanks to goals from Raul Jimenez and Bobby De Cordova-Reid giving them a deserved win.

However, Redknapp was critical of Tomiyasu’s performance.

“[Saka’s opener] should have been the catalyst for Arsenal to go on and win this game so comfortably,” Redknapp said on Sky Sports.

“He [Arteta] tried the change at half time. Tomiyasu came into midfield and all he did was make a nuisance of himself for his own team.

“He was never given any width. He looked lost in there.

“Midfield they were not quite right, they were not creating enough so they were not going to score goals. So much possession without the purpose you need.”
