Paolo Di Canio Slams Ten Hag’s Transfer Decisions
Former Juventus striker Paolo Di Canio has taken a swipe at Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag, criticizing his transfer strategy at Old Trafford. According to Di Canio, Ten Hag has failed to learn from previous transfer mistakes during his two-year tenure at the club.
Manchester United spent approximately £180 million on new signings during the summer transfer window, bringing in players like Leny Yoro from Lille, Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui from Bayern Munich, Manuel Ugarte from Paris Saint-Germain, and Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna. However, these signings have yet to deliver the desired impact for the Red Devils.
Speaking to Football365, Di Canio expressed his disappointment, stating, “Ten Hag doesn’t seem to favor British players. Last year, he brought in Hojlund. This year, Zirkzee, whose physicality suits Italy better. Meanwhile, Tottenham signed Solanke, a decent player who could have fit United’s needs.”
Di Canio went on to criticize United’s lack of resilience, adding, “When they concede, no one reacts. It’s disheartening to see Ten Hag struggling, and it seems he hasn’t learned anything from his time at the club.”
