Social media activist Martin Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has been released by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) after meeting the conditions of his bail.

His release was confirmed on Wednesday by his legal representative, Deji Adeyanju.

“VDM has been released on bail. Special thanks to Deji Adeyanju and Partners, especially our lead counsel Marvin Omorogbe. We also appreciate the voices of Nigerians, including Egbon Sowore, Peter Obi, Atiku Abubakar, Davido, opposition lawmakers, and many others who spoke out. I am grateful to the EFCC chairman for addressing my concerns since last Friday. The struggle continues,” Adeyanju stated.

In a video shared by his supporters and circulating online, VDM is seen inside a car with Adeyanju, speaking about his arrest. He disclosed that the EFCC held him on allegations related to money laundering.

Earlier, EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale confirmed that VDM had been granted bail but remained in custody until he fulfilled the required conditions. According to the agency, the activist was invited for questioning following several petitions accusing him of serious financial misconduct. The EFCC added that his arrest came after he failed to respond to multiple invitations sent to his known addresses and communication channels.
