The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has confirmed the arrest of social media personality Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, following several petitions filed against him.
Speaking to BBC News Pidgin on Monday, EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale said Otse was detained in response to multiple complaints alleging cyberstalking.
“We arrested him to address the allegations brought forward by petitioners,” Oyewale stated. “He will be released once he meets the bail conditions. The matter will proceed to court in due course.”
Oyewale also clarified that the petitions were submitted by individuals and were not connected to Guaranty Trust Bank, dismissing rumors linking the bank to the case.
The EFCC says preparations are underway to formally charge Otse in court.
