Ebonyi Governor’s Father, Who Married 30 Wives and Fathered 108 Children, Becomes King

The father of Ebonyi State Governor, Chief Ezekiel Nwifuru Nwankpu, has been crowned the traditional ruler of Oferekpe Agbaja Autonomous Community in the Izzi Local Government Area of Ebonyi. Ezeogo Nwankpu, a well-known farmer, is now recognized as Chibugo 1 of the community, marking a significant milestone in his life.

A Remarkable Family Story: 30 Wives and 108 Children 👶💍

Ezeogo Nwankpu married a total of 30 wives, although 13 of them eventually left because they could not bear children. Presently, he lives with 17 wives, from whom he has fathered an astonishing 108 children, including the Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, who hails from the fourth wife.

Among his 108 children, 21 are university graduates, all trained by their hardworking mothers, demonstrating a remarkable commitment to education despite the family’s challenges.

From Hardships to Royalty: The Journey of Ezeogo Nwankpu 🌱

The newly crowned traditional ruler’s life journey has not been without hardships. Governor Nwifuru shared how his family endured dejection, intimidation, and land disputes in the past. He revealed that his uncle was tragically killed in the village square, and their land was forcefully acquired by the villagers. Ironically, the land in question is now home to the Oferekpe Agbaja Primary School II, where the coronation ceremony took place.

The Reason Behind the Many Marriages: A Story of Perseverance 💪❤️

Governor Nwifuru explained that his father’s decision to marry 30 wives stemmed from the humiliation and isolation he faced due to his success as a farmer. As a prosperous farmer, Ezeogo Nwankpu was treated unfairly by his relatives and neighbors, who could not accept his success. To combat loneliness and find support, he married more wives to assist in both household duties and farming.

A Father’s Legacy: Hard Work, Education, and Family Values 🏆📚

The governor described his father as a loving husband and father, someone who prioritized the well-being of his children and wives. His hard work and commitment have led to 25 of his children becoming graduates, a testament to his dedication and the collective effort of the mothers in the family.

“My father is a loving father and husband who takes care of all his children and wives. All his wives and children work hard to train themselves in school, and that’s why we have 25 graduates in our family,” Governor Nwifuru shared.

Coronation Ceremony: A Celebration of Legacy and Leadership 🎉

At the coronation, Governor Nwifuru presented a certificate and staff of office to his father, Ezeogo Nwankpu, in accordance with the Ebonyi State Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Cap 146. The governor urged his father to reign with wisdom, generosity, and justice, emphasizing the importance of peace and unity in the community.
