Dangote Refinery Reduces Fuel Prices Again
Dangote Refinery has once again lowered the cost of fuel, following a decline in the landing cost to N774.82 per litre, which is now below its previous N825 ex-depot price.
Unlike the price reduction on February 26, 2025, the refinery has not made an official announcement regarding this latest adjustment.
This price cut comes amid an ongoing price battle between NNPC and Dangote, two key players in Nigeria’s downstream oil sector. Chinedu Ukadike, spokesperson for the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), confirmed the development.
“Yes, it’s true. There are speculations that imported fuel prices have dropped, leading to the current price war,” Ukadike stated.
“This is the advantage of deregulation. Dangote has millions of litres in storage and would not want external competition to take its market share. That’s likely why the price reduction happened.”
However, it remains uncertain whether this latest price drop will reflect at the retail level, particularly at filling stations like MRS, where fuel is currently sold at N860 per litre in Lagos and N880 in Abuja.
