The Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos, has ordered the interim forfeiture of N31 million and multiple real estate assets linked to businessman Obiajulu Emeka Emmanuel.
Justice Alexander Owoeye issued the order on May 8, 2025, following a motion ex-parte filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) through its counsel, C.C. Okezie.
The assets include a four-bedroom terrace duplex, a three-bedroom terrace duplex, four one-bedroom apartment units, and two two-bedroom apartment units—all located across Lagos State.
According to the EFCC, the properties and funds are suspected to be proceeds of unlawful activities. The commission’s application was backed by an affidavit sworn by Yusuf Hassan, an EFCC investigating officer.
Justice Owoeye, satisfied with the presented evidence, granted the interim forfeiture. He also directed the EFCC to publish the order in a national newspaper, giving any interested party an opportunity to appear before the court and “show cause why the funds and properties should not be permanently forfeited to the Federal Government of Nigeria.”
