Court Greenlights EFCC Probe into Sanwo-Olu’s Tenure

Sanwo-Olu’s Suit Against EFCC Dismissed

A lawsuit filed by Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to prevent the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) from arresting him after his tenure ends has been dismissed by a Federal High Court in Abuja.

The suit, filed by lawyer Darlington Ozurumba, alleged that the EFCC was planning to arrest and prosecute Sanwo-Olu for unspecified offenses. The governor’s legal team argued that such a move would be unconstitutional.

However, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission denied these allegations, stating that they were not investigating the governor and had no plans to arrest him.

The court’s decision to dismiss the case came after Sanwo-Olu’s lawyer moved to discontinue the proceedings. The Lagos State government has also distanced itself from the lawsuit, stating that it was filed without the governor’s knowledge.
