The former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Mr. Godwin Emefiele, who was detained, has been granted bail by an Abuja High Court situated in Maitama. Justice Hamza Muazu, in delivering the ruling, stipulated a bail amount of N300 million for Emefiele.
Additionally, the court directed the former CBN governor to provide two sureties. These sureties must be residents within the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, and possess landed property within the Maitama District. The court has set November 28 as the date to commence a comprehensive hearing on the six-count charge filed against Emefiele by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Furthermore, as part of the bail conditions, the court had previously mandated Emefiele to surrender all his travel documents.
