The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt Gen Taoreed Lagbaja, has reassured Nigerians that the collaboration between the army and other relevant agencies will result in improved security and the attainment of peace within the country.
This affirmation was made in a statement released by the Director of Army Public Relations, Brig Gen Onyema Nwachukwu, on Tuesday. According to the statement, COAS Lagbaja conveyed this commitment during a visit to the Army Headquarters in Abuja by the Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, and the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle.
Lagbaja emphasized that the Nigerian Army has received considerable support from the Federal Government, which has significantly impacted its operations. He also acknowledged the sacrifices and efforts made by the military in addressing the security challenges faced by the nation.
Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, praised the dedication of the Nigerian Army in confronting the security challenges affecting the country. He commended the Chief of Army Staff for the accomplishments achieved so far and assured that President Bola Tinubu would continue to provide support for the Nigerian Army in fulfilling its constitutional responsibilities. He urged the troops to remain resolute in their mission to restore peace to the nation.
Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, called on the public to acknowledge the contributions and sacrifices of the military and security agencies. He urged citizens to support the men and women of the armed forces in their role of safeguarding the population. Matawalle emphasized the need for a comprehensive, non-violent strategy to address insecurity and promote peace and tranquility in the country. He also advocated for increased intelligence sharing among security agencies to enhance their ongoing operations.
