Chelsea’s manager, Mauricio Pochettino, made a humorous remark about the club’s owners insisting that he start two players against Arsenal. This came after Chelsea surrendered a two-goal lead in a match against the Gunners at Stamford Bridge.
Despite facing a few key player absences due to injuries, Pochettino fielded a robust lineup that included Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez, whose combined cost amounted to £222 million. Both Caicedo and Fernandez, even after returning late from international duty, played the full 90 minutes.
Pochettino commented on the situation, saying, “It’s quite demanding for players to return from South America on a Wednesday and then play on a Saturday. But if I were to suggest giving them a rest, I’m certain the media would criticize me, and so would the club owner.”
He continued, “Today, Caicedo and Enzo arrived after participating in two matches in America, and they were not exactly fresh. Nevertheless, they remain vital components of our team.”
