Chad’s Minister of Defense, General Daoud Yaya Brahim, and the Government’s General Secretary, Haliki Choua Mahamat, have stepped down from their positions in the wake of two separate controversial video leaks that purportedly depicted them engaged in intimate acts. These explicit videos gained wide circulation across various social media platforms.
The official announcement of their resignations came via an administration spokesperson on Wednesday, October 18, 2023. Prime Minister Saleh Kebzabo accepted these resignations, although further specifics regarding the reasons for their departure were not provided, as per Kebzabo’s spokesperson.
According to reports from Reuters, these explicit videos began circulating on social media on Sunday and Monday, allegedly showing the two officials in compromising situations with other individuals. Reuters noted its inability to independently verify the authenticity of the material and mentioned the challenge of reaching out to either General Daoud Yaya Brahim or Haliki Choua Mahamat for comment at that time.
