Burna Boy’s assertion of turning down a $5 million gig is likely a publicity stunt, according to ID Cabasa.

Renowned record producer Olumide Ogunade, also known as ID Cabasa, has expressed skepticism about Grammy-winning singer Burna Boy’s recent assertion that he turned down a $5 million offer to perform in Dubai due to Emirati laws prohibiting smoking in public, suggesting it might be a “media stunt.” ID Cabasa shared his views on the matter during the latest episode of The Honest Bunch Podcast, co-hosted by actor Chinedu Ani Emmanuel, popularly known as Nedu.

Nedu, the co-host, raised the question, “Burna Boy rejecting $5 million because he cannot smoke in Dubai. Does it mean he has gotten to the point where he is so addicted to it and cannot do anything without smoking?”

ID Cabasa responded, “When I saw that online, two thoughts crossed my mind, and I’ll be honest. I felt that it was a media stunt. That thing was not true. It’s $5 million we are talking about here. And if it’s actually true, Burna Boy is an adult; that is his own decision. But if I were the one offered $5 million—I don’t even smoke—don’t give me $5 million; just give me $3 million, and I will even come to the show with extra artists.”

It’s worth noting that Burna Boy claimed, during a rehearsal with his band, Outsiders, that he rejected a $5 million offer to perform in Dubai because he wouldn’t be allowed to smoke weed while there.
