The Federal High Court (FHC) in Lagos has unveiled a new online portal allowing the public to obtain affidavits from the court. This initiative, introduced by FHC Chief Judge Justice John Tsoho, aligns with global digital best practices.
During a recent visit to the Lagos division, our correspondent observed a tour of the court’s updated ICT department, led by Mr. Agwu Charles. Mr. Agwu demonstrated how the public can utilize this new service.
“Affidavits for various purposes such as loss of items, age declaration, and name changes can now be processed through our portal at portal.fhc.gov.ng,” Agwu explained. “Simply log in to the site and follow the instructions.”
Deputy Chief Registrar Mr. Godwin Longe further clarified that the portal currently handles only non-case-related affidavits.
“Affidavits required to support a case will still be processed manually due to their specific nature,” Longe noted. He emphasized that individuals no longer need to be physically present to obtain the aforementioned types of affidavits.
