Bobrisky requested N3 million from me to secure a VIP section in prison- Falz

Nigerian rapper and activist Falz has confirmed he spoke with controversial figure Bobrisky about Bobrisky’s legal issues earlier this year. Falz revealed that Bobrisky solicited N3 million from him to secure a VIP section at the Correctional Centre.

On Wednesday, a clarification was issued after a letter was sent by Falana’s legal team, Falana & Falana Chambers, to Martins Vincent Otse, known as VeryDarkMan, demanding the retraction of defamatory remarks about Falz.

The letter stated that a social media post suggested Falz conspired with Bobrisky. It claimed Falz financially supported Bobrisky to influence a favorable legal outcome. Dated September 26, 2024, the letter from Falz’s lawyer, Taiwo E. Olawanle detailed the events. Bobrisky sought advice from Falz. However, Falz denied any financial assistance. It was asserted that no payments were needed by him.

The letter stated that it was said in your Instagram post from September 25, 2024, “In everything and everyone that is mentioned here, I will be disappointed if truly FALZ and his father are involved in this whole Bobrisky issue…” Several defamatory claims against our client are contained in this post.

“To clarify, our client never initiated contact with Mr. Idris Okuneye. Our client possesses documentary evidence showing that Mr. Idris was the one who reached out first. On May 4, 2024, Mr. Idris Okuneye, also known as Bobrisky, reached out to our client to request a phone call. In light of the charges he was facing, the client accepted this request, believing that legal advice might be necessary.

Shortly after, Mr. Idris Okuneye called and expressed his distress. During the conversation, he requested financial assistance of approximately N3,000,000. He needed the money to pay officials for permission to stay in the VIP section of the Correctional Centre.

The letter stated that the client told him not to pay any officials at the Correctional Centre. Despite this situation, Mr. Idris Okuneye nonetheless went on to request money. He claimed his lawyers mishandled his case by advising him to plead guilty. Our client consistently rejected this request.

“You published a careless statement with multiple allegations without consulting our client. This included insinuations that our client is in a homosexual relationship and trying to secure a presidential pardon for Mr. Idris Okuneye.”

The immediate retraction of the defamatory statements and a public apology across all platforms where these allegations were made were demanded by Falana & Falana Chambers.

They warned that if he didn’t comply within 24 hours, they would take legal action. This could include a claim for damages to Falz’s reputation.

A viral video from VeryDarkMan featured Bobrisky alleging that unnamed EFCC officers accepted N15 million from him to dismiss money laundering charges. In response to the bribery claims, Bobrisky has denied any wrongdoing. In light of the situation, EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede has responded by ordering an investigation into the matter.
