The Governorship Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bayelsa State and former Minister of State for Petroleum, Chief Timipre Sylva, has voiced his dissatisfaction with Monday’s Bayelsa Governorship Election Tribunal judgment.
In a statement signed by his Special Assistant on Media and Public Affairs, Julius Bokoru, Sylva conveyed that he promptly convened a meeting with elders and stakeholders of the party following the judgment.
Emerging from the meeting, the former Governor of Bayelsa instructed his legal team to swiftly pursue justice at the Court of Appeal.
Prior to the judgment, Sylva had accused the tribunal of bias, citing several infractions observed by his legal team during the case hearings. Consequently, he filed an interlocutory appeal demanding the dissolution of the panel and the reconstitution of a new one.
“We are not satisfied with the decision of the tribunal,” Sylva stated. “But this is just a court of first instance. After meeting with the elders and critical stakeholders of our great party, the APC, we directed our legal team to seek justice for Bayelsa at the Supreme Court.”
The governorship candidate assured the people of Bayelsa that the Court of Appeal would rectify the perceived injustices committed by the tribunal. He asserted that the liberation of Bayelsa was imminent and that justice was inevitable for the traumatized people of the state. Sylva appealed to them to remain positive, law-abiding, and steadfast.
