Barcelona’s Sporting Director, Deco, has expressed the club’s continued plans for Lionel Messi’s potential return.
During the summer, Messi declined an offer to return to the Nou Camp, opting instead to join Inter Miami in Major League Soccer (MLS) after his contract with Paris Saint-Germain came to an end.
Deco, who once shared the pitch with Messi, shared his thoughts with Lance, saying, “I wasn’t privy to the discussions regarding Messi’s return. Obviously, Messi is an iconic figure in the club’s history.”
“He’s content with his current situation, and I believe that’s what he sought in his career. While a return to Barcelona would have been truly remarkable, given that he’s arguably the greatest player in history, circumstances led him down a different path, and you can clearly see his contentment. His happiness is what matters most now. He’s still actively playing, and I hope he continues for many more years. For those who adore football and appreciate him, his joy brings immense satisfaction.”
