ASEPA Tackles 20-Year-Old Waste Problem in Isialangwa North

Abia State Takes Action on Long-Standing Waste Problem

The Abia State Environmental Protection Agency (ASEPA) has initiated a cleanup effort in Orie-Ntigha market in Isialangwa North Local Government Area. This move is part of the state government’s broader plan to address waste management issues across the state.

Responding to concerns raised by the local community about the health risks posed by the long-standing waste accumulation, ASEPA has begun the process of removing the refuse, which has been there for over two decades.

To prevent future waste buildup, ASEPA plans to establish a local office and hire street sweepers to maintain cleanliness in the market area. The agency is also urging residents to properly dispose of waste and avoid littering to ensure a clean and healthy environment.

The traditional ruler of Amapu Ntigha expressed gratitude for the state government’s intervention and pledged to work with ASEPA to maintain the cleanliness of the market.
