Swedish pole vault sensation Armand “Mondo” Duplantis has once again redefined the limits of his sport, clearing an astounding 6.27 meters at the All Star Perche event in Clermont-Ferrand, France. This remarkable feat marks the 11th time Duplantis has set a new world record in pole vaulting.
The 25-year-old Olympic and world champion showcased exceptional form throughout the competition. He flawlessly cleared heights of 5.65m, 5.91m, 6.02m, and 6.07m before attempting the record-breaking height. With the bar set at 6.27m, Duplantis soared over on his first attempt, igniting celebrations and track-side fireworks.
Reflecting on his achievement, Duplantis expressed a sense of euphoria: “It’s always special. It’s a crazy feeling every time. It’s like a feeling of euphoria. It’s hard to explain.”
Adding a personal touch to the event, Duplantis arranged for his debut song, “Bop,” to play in the arena during his record attempt. He shared his excitement about combining his passions: “When I made this song a couple of months ago, I thought this would be a perfect song to jump to here. That’s why I rushed it out.”
Duplantis first claimed the world record in February 2020 with a leap of 6.16m and has been incrementally raising the bar since. His previous record of 6.26m was set in August 2024 at the Kamila Skolimowska Memorial in Chorzów, Poland.
The All Star Perche meet, organized by French pole vault legend Renaud Lavillenie, provided the perfect stage for Duplantis’s latest triumph. The event also saw Greece’s Emmanouil Karalis set a national record by clearing 6.02m, securing second place.
Duplantis’s relentless pursuit of excellence continues to captivate the athletics world, leaving fans and fellow athletes in awe of his extraordinary talent and dedication.
