The Osun State chapter of the Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC) has urged President Bola Tinubu to grant approval to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Osogbo bill. This appeal was conveyed in a statement signed by the Chairman, Wale Adebayo, as disclosed by DAILY POST on Sunday.
Adebayo highlighted that the 9th National Assembly had successfully passed the bill, which was originally sponsored by Senator Ajibola Basiru during the 9th Assembly. Expressing concern, the IPAC chairman emphasized that the absence of such a facility had deprived the state of a top-notch healthcare center.
He underscored the significance of Federal Medical Centres (FMCs) across the nation, emphasizing their role in delivering quality and cost-effective tertiary healthcare services. Adebayo noted that these centers play a crucial role in offering timely clinical and supportive services, alongside qualitative research and training activities.
The chairman expressed the urgent need for a medical center in the state, stressing that such a facility would cater to the health needs of the people at a reasonable cost. Adebayo pointed out that residents of Osun currently face exorbitant fees charged by private hospitals in the state.
Highlighting a notable gap, he mentioned that Osun is the only state in the southwest without a Federal Medical Centre. In conclusion, Adebayo appealed to the Tinubu administration to consider the plight of patients in the state by endorsing the FMC bill, thereby enhancing healthcare accessibility for the residents of Osun.
