On Tuesday, as the #EndBadGovernance protest continued in various parts of the country, a large group of individuals suspected to be hoodlums attacked the All Progressives Congress (APC) headquarters in Rivers State.
According to DAILY POST, the attackers targeted the facility on Port Harcourt-Aba Road during the protest. They vandalized the entrance gate, damaged the canopies used by security personnel, and destroyed the party’s prominent billboard.
Chief Tony Okocha, the Caretaker Committee Chairman of the APC in Rivers State, confirmed the incident in a briefing with journalists in Port Harcourt. Okocha alleged that the attackers were sponsored by individuals aiming to silence the party in the state, and claimed that the sponsors have been identified.
Okocha said, “The APC Secretariat on Port Harcourt-Aba Express Road was vandalized today by hoodlums who were backed by a source we have identified. We are not afraid to name this source because the situation has become highly political. Why is it that only the APC has been targeted for destruction?
“Despite these attacks, APC remains committed to advocating for the people of Rivers State. Such actions will not deter us from opposing a government that we believe is ineffective. Just as the Rivers State House of Assembly continued its work despite being damaged, we too will persist.”
