The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has issued a message to the residents of Abuja, urging them to brace themselves for some challenging choices in the near future. However, he emphasized the importance of patience and understanding, assuring the public that these difficult decisions are being made in the best interests of the nation’s capital.
Wike conveyed this during a meeting where he welcomed former FCT Senator Philip Aduda, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, as well as Zakari Dobi, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate who vied for the senatorial seat in the previous election.
According to Wike:
“I urge residents to be patient; we are going to take tough decisions. Residents should not see it as punitive but for the good of the FCT.”
The minister further revealed that President Bola Tinubu has issued instructions for the development of a minimum of 5 kilometers of road within each of the area councils.
Upon taking office, Wike had mandated the removal of various unauthorized structures throughout the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Additionally, the minister cautioned that properties left undeveloped within the specified timeframe could face the possibility of having their ownership rights revoked.
