The Ondo State Security Network Agency, better known as Amotekun Corps, has successfully apprehended two notorious kidnap kingpins responsible for multiple abductions in the state. The arrest came after the suspects kidnapped four victims along the notorious Owo/Ose highway.
While addressing the media at the Amotekun headquarters in Akure, Commander Adetunji Adeleye revealed that he personally led the operation, collaborating with local hunters to arrest the kidnappers and free the abductees.
“These suspects have been terrorizing farmers and commuters along the Elegbeka/Ifon road,” Adeleye stated. He further disclosed that the culprits had earlier collected a ransom of N1.2 million from some victims in August.
During the operation, the suspects engaged Amotekun operatives in a fierce gun battle but were eventually overpowered and captured.
“A day before the rescue, we received reports of a kidnapping along a well-known route. Our team quickly mobilized and, with the help of local hunters, combed the forest where the victims were held,” Adeleye recounted.
Four victims were successfully rescued by the end of the day, and the commander confirmed that the arrested suspects were responsible for previous abductions in the area. “These criminals had been apprehended before but somehow returned to the same locality. Now, we have them again,” Adeleye emphasized.
